The car is built to comply with the rules of the MSA (Governing body of UK motor sport) and the TR Register. The car runs in Class F (renamed from Class G in 2003), for fully modified cars over 3.0 litres.

The main restrictions which apply are as follows: 

1. Minimum weight at end of race is 1000kg including the driver

2. Wheels should be no wider than 7" with a diameter of 13" and fitted with Yokohama tyres (not A048)

3. Engine size limited to 3950cc + small overbore

4. Modifications to bodywork shape are very limited

Racing TR7V8 Specification

• CES Power built 4.0 litre Rover V8 developing in excess of 300BHP at 6000rpm

1. Late 4.0/4.6 cross-bolted block
2. Modified 4.6 litre cylinder heads with race valves and springs
3. Forged JE pistons and steel H-beam con rods
4. Custom cut cam with solid lifters and Comp Cams push rods
5. Titan roller rockers on custom rocker shafts and posts
6. Titan/John Eales dry sump system with boot mounted oil tank and 16 row oil cooler
7. All ARP bolts
8. Holley 600 cfm double pumper carb on Wildcat, single plane inlet manifold
9. Bespoke 4-2-1 exhaust system silenced to below 100Db
10. Custom, 3-core aluminium radiator with electric fan

• DMS Varley RedTop pure lead battery
• Lumenition ignition system and rev limiter
• Polycarbonate side and rear screens
• GRP bonnet, front wings, nose, and boot lid
• GRP/Diolen wrap-around seat with professional 4-point, 3" OMP seat belt
• Plumbed in AFFF fire system
• Multi-point, welded and bolted roll cage
• Alloy, foam-filled fuel tank with red top fuel pump
• 7J13 Alleycat wheels with 205/60r13 Yokohama A032r tyres (control size)
• 8J15 Compomotive MO wheels with Avon racing slicks (alternative for non-champ races)
• 4 pot, AP billet brake calipers with 266mm x 20mm vented discs up front with standard drums on the rear
• Custom built AP racing clutch
• Standard, 5-speed Rover SD1 gearbox
• Standard, 5-speed type rear axle unit with 3.45:1 ratio CWP and Salisbury LSD
• Lightened to 890kg and ballasted up to minimum weight (1000kg inc. driver)
