Upper Fourth Street Link
Kevin Jory of MK Cycle Users' Group reports...

Kevin Jory examines the work on Upper Fourth Street, late July.
Those who use the lower reaches of Midsummer Boulevard will have seen activity near the central reservation gap at Fourth Street. When the Council wished to close it they noted that cyclists had not been implicated in the crashes that occurred there. It was thought that cyclists should still be able to use it and an exemption was made on a trial basis.

The trial is now over and the arrangement is being made permanent. This will allow cyclists to cross between the north and south sides but not motor vehicles. Some new signing has been provided and the kerbs re-aligned.

We now need to see how it works. Of particular interest is the turning arc as a cyclist enters from the Boulevard. Please send in your comments to the editor.
