York Inspiration
Out of Town with Deborah Cooper...

I recently attended the York cycle rally and spoke to a friend of my husband who imports and sells a variety of cycle security equipment including lockers which could be installed outside the Council offices for staff to use, perhaps by issuing regular cyclists with a key to their locker, or something similar. They could also be used around MK and at the station etc.

I also spoke to York City Council staff who do a comprehensive range of training of children and adults on safe use of bikes. They have an accredited scheme and have started training other trainers from other Councils. If you are interested please let me know.

Finally I came across an organisation recycling unwanted bikes to send to South Africa, and thought that it was the sort of thing we could do in MK if anyone had the enthusiasm to make it happen. I though we could extend it to recycling bikes for the use of asylum seekers here. Anyone interested?
