VIC REEVES BIG NIGHT IN(1991) FANTAIL
Authors: VIC REEVES AND BOB MORTIMER
Following in the tradition of the Monty Python and Young Ones books before it, Vic and Bob's
first book is a cut-and-paste style book which ties in with the Big Night Out TV series; containing
Les facts, The Man With The Stick, That's Justice, The Stotts and Graham Lister's 'How to spot
a fop'.
THE SMELL OF REEVES AND MORTIMER(1993) FANTAIL
Authors: VIC REEVES AND BOB MORTIMER
The Smell book contains the scripts to every episode of series 1, including many sketches which
never made it to TV. Also included are Vic's original drawings for many of the show's characters and 'Reeves and Mortimer products'. The scripts for series 2 were never published.
SHOOTING STARS(1996) BBC BOOKS
Authors: VIC REEVES AND BOB MORTIMER
A book of two halves, the first is similar to Vic Reeves Big Night In with pieces on Vic and Bob,
Ulrika, Mark and George Dawes. The second part of the book contains a Shooting Stars game,
including many rounds from the TV show. The first copies of the book included a CD containing
Vic's pub singer cover versions.
REEVES AND MORTIMER(1998) ORION
Author: BRUCE DESSAU
The first Vic and Bob biography, written by comedy journalist; Bruce Dessau, largely concentrates on
Jim's upbringing, his early life in London and how he set up the Big Night Out and met Bob. The TV career of Jim and Bob are also covered, with contributions from colleagues and friends. A pretty
comprehensive biography, all said and done.
SUN BOILED ONIONS(1999) MICHAEL JOSEPH
Author: VIC REEVES
A compilation of Vic's artwork, along with fictional diaries and short stories. Most of the pictures are of celebrities(all of whom have their eyes far apart), Elvis appears regularly; going to the shops,
doing the ironing and working down a mine. The thought that stays with you after reading the book
in one sitting is that Vic Reeves/Jim Moir is quite mad.
RANDALL AND HOPKIRK(DECEASED) - THE FILES(2001) BOXTREE
Author: ANDY LANE.
A very detailed companion to the TV series with plenty of photos, containing profiles of the stars, episode guides for both series, special effects and production details. The book also contains an introduction from Charlie Higson.
SUNSHINE ON PUTTY - THE GOLDEN AGE OF BRITISH COMEDY FROM
VIC REEVES TO THE OFFICE (2004) FOURTH ESTATE
Author: BEN THOMPSON
An extensive if not somewhat pretentious history of nineties comedy including The Fast Show, Mrs Merton, Alan Partridge, The League Of Gentlemen, Ali G and of course Vic & Bob. Thompson is obviously a big Reeves & Mortimer fan and describes the Big Night Out as being the catalyst for the scene, there are also chapters covering Vic's art and the failed
attempt to conquer the mainstream with Families At War.
