RADIO
RADIO REEVES & MORTIMER(1994) RADIO 1
A live Sunday lunchtime transmission in a series where Radio 1 gave comedians of the day an hour to present their own show. Broadcast in between the two series of The Smell, Vic and Bob(plus co-hosts Cox and Evans) are very funny in this and seem to enjoy playing their own choice of music, the 'celebrity' guests seem a bit surplus to requirements as Vic and Bob tend to speak over their contributions. Other presenters in this series included French & Saunders, Lenny Henry and Angus Deayton.
Written and Presented by: VIC REEVES AND BOB MORTIMER.
Guests: JAMES BROWN, DORIAN CROOK, JOHN IRVINE.
Regular Characters: COUNCILLORS COX & EVANS, OTIS REDDING & MARVIN GAYE.
COCK OF THE WOOD(2000) RADIO 1
Radio 1 again allow Vic(no Bob this time) to play his own choice of music and generally act the goat on live radio. Live from deep in darkest Kentish woodland, Vic and friends
entertain us with songs, stories and general arsing about. Vic also unveils some of the
writings that eventually made it into in his Sun Boiled Onions book. A pretty relaxed and
entertaining late night show.
Written and Presented by: VIC REEVES.
Guests: BEN AND JASON, THE BETA BAND.
Voice Over: TOMMY VANCE.
FILM
ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE MIDLANDS(2002)
Vic and Bob's feature film debut is in this above par romantic comedy from director Shane Meadows, featuring a fine cast of British character actors. Robert Carlyle plays Jimmy; a Glaswgian criminal who tries to rekindle his relationship with old flame Shirley(Shirley
Henderson), however Shirley's current boyfriend; the slightly wet Dek(Rhys Ifans) won't give her up without a fight. It's a shame that the Brit Flick bubble had burst by the time this film was released, as it should have been a bigger hit than it was. Vic and Bob's bizarre cameo is as a couple of circus clowns who brawl with Jimmy's gang over a bag of money early on in the film, Bob doesn't utter a word and Vic's only line is 'Fuck off'!
