"like having a great big ball of dough staring at you"

James Roderick Moir was born in Leeds on 24th January 1959, and was brought up in
Darlington.  After leaving school with no qualifications, Jim worked first as a pig castrator,
then on a cabbage farm, he eventually settled as an engineering apprentice.
Jim and four friends(known as the Fashionable Five) relocated to London in 1979, after more
factory work and a stint as a shop assistant, Jim began a part-time course at art college and
became a keen painter.  During his pre-Vic Reeves days, Jim was in several bands including
Trout, Dig Me I'm Django, Fawcett & Moir, Fantantiddlyspan, Hot Murder and Potter's Wheel(with Bob).  In Jim's early attempts at comedy, he played various characters; Jim Bell,
Mr Mystery and eventually Britain's Top Light Entertainer, Vic Reeves.  The early Vic Reeves Big Night Out shows were held first at Winston's Bar, later moving to the Goldsmith
Tavern and finally the Albany Empire, by this time they had become three hour events, by 1990 it was ready to move to the small screen and the rest is history.
Jim has two children, Alice and Louie from his first marriage (to Sarah). Jim is currently married to Nancy.

"a stocky, little, moon faced hunchback"

Robert Renwick Mortimer was born in his home town of Middlesbrough on 23rd May 1959,
he lost his father at an early age and he and his brother were brought up by their mother.
As a boy, Bob was a skilled footballer and had trials for Middlesbrough FC.  He left school
with three A-levels and in 1977 left home for Sussex University where he studied law.  After
graduating, Bob began a career as a solicitor, eventually settling in London.  Bob's only taste
of showbusiness at this time was a band, Dog Dirt.
Bob was first an audience member of the Big Night Out and eventually became one of the
elite band who graduated from being Jim's drinking companions to being performers in the show, along with Dorian Crook and Fred Aylward.  Bob created many early Big Night Out
characters including The Man with the Stick and Judge Nutmeg.
Jim and Bob became equal partners by the time TV beckoned, although his on-screen
character was as Vic's sidekick.  By the time of Families at War, Vic is almost a stooge to
Bob's straight(ish) man.
Bob lives with his girlfriend, Lisa and they have two sons, Harry and Thomas.
Bob still supports Middlesbrough.
