History of all known Sages in Scotland.

While researching the families it became very clear that there was only small numbers of Sage's in Scotland. All Sages that can be found have been collected and arranged into Trees. For the Inverness Sage's they can be connected together into a single Tree that originates about 1590, by 1840 they are hard to find and in the 1881 census they have gone. Sages appear in the Greenock and Hamilton areas about the same time but so far unable to prove they are all simply moves from Inverness to Lanark as few of them had children in both places. Some however have been traced. For the Story of the Clan Sage up to 1900
See SAGE'S IN SCOTLAND.

There are in fact a very few Sages not included, Bishop Sage who claimed seven generations of History does not make it. A Military Sage at the Siege of Dundee also is excluded.

The records used were mostly the Parish Records that have been kept since the early 1600's. However they are not complete, over time some have been lost, destroyed, or eaten by mice. In addition they tend to have been recorded by the Established Church clerk, so not all of the many splinter groups recorded with them, some kept their own records. The Sages seem to have been recorded better than many groups, however some complete families are missing. For example none of the Sages from Locharon appear in the official records, they are in the Church record.
