Picture: Ballachulish Slate Quarry

William Ritchie worked in the Slate Quarry when he was a Youth. Slates were worked at Ballachulish by teams of six men who contracted to produce a agreed amount of finished slates. Three mined the rocks and three finished the slates.
This quarry was 500 feet from the floor to top.
