I am originally from Tiverton in Devon (UK) but now live in Hampshire. I work for a large IT company as a Technical Support Specialist and Team Leader for large-system software. Prior to that I was at Southampton University, studying for my Ph. D. which I hadn't finished writing up when I took this job. I thought it would be easy to just continue writing up in the evenings and weekends, but it turned out to be very difficult and it took me a very long time to get back into the swing of things. The Ph.D. is in chemical physics (liquid crystals) obtained from the University of Southampton . Thesis title: NMR Studies of Macroscopic and Microscopic Properties of Liquid Crystals.
