I suppose my interest in touring must have started back in 1963 at the age of 16 when on a Sunday morning instead of going to practice with the band I went off to Bala lake on a 125 scooter, without a map and only a vague idea of where it was, my lasting memory from that trip is an aching back and a severe scolding from my mother. I was later inspired by a story written by someone who, on a Triumph 650cc, had followed the River Rhine from the sea to its source .

Due to college marriage and kids in that order, my touring was limited to a few trips to Cornwall and South Wales then the big day, my divorce, albeit some 15 years later, I got the bike and the kids, she got the car.

Plans were laid down for some major tours.
