Judy In LondonJudy's Wedding Stops The Show in Chelsea
March 15th 1969

The Kings Road came to a halt for the wedding of Judy Garland and Mickey Deans, escorted by Best Man, singer Johnnie Ray. Judy wearing a pill box crown, chiffon and osterich blue dress and Mickey wearing a fashion of turquoise Regency coat, flares and cravat.
The couple engulfed by press officers, lookers-on and a number of fans braved their way through to the Registry Office for the ceremony to be wed by Birmingham Lawrence.
Following the ceremony, Judy said "I am a very proud and lucky lady. Finally I am Loved."
The press wanted to know if Judy would be doing any more singing. Mickey answered that Judy could "sing as much and as long as she wants to"
The couple went on for a service of dedication and prayer at St Marylebone Parish Church by Rev Peter Delaney.
Meanwhile preparations finish at Quaglino's for their reception, with an Orchestra, and ensemble of guests.
Judy had a very special guest - Patricia Peatfield, (honoured this year - 1997, by the Judy Garland Club as a life member). As a disabled person, she got much encouragement from Judy's singing which has helped her to walk.
The party included champagne, music (including a song from the newlyweds - "You Made Me Love You") and the traditional cutting of a beautiful three tier cake.

Ironically Mickey planned to give Judy a wedding present of a chain of cinemas which were expected to return sufficient funds
to keep Judy for the rest of her life should she give up singing. The first "Judy Garland Theatre" was to open 12 weeks after their wedding, however, negotiations with investors fell through and it didn't happen.
Judy and Mickey later departed for a brief honeymoon in Paris.
