What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that works on the feet to help heal the whole person, not just the prevailing symptoms. It is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.

It is based on the principle that all organs, glands and structures of the body have reflex points that terminate on the hands and feet. Applying pressure to these points helps to stimulate the body’s natural healing process in the corresponding areas of the body.

Reflexology also helps to achieve balance in the body by normalising the function of internal organs, counteracting stress, and allowing the person to achieve physical and emotional well-being.

Reflexology treatment has many benefits:

it is very relaxing.
it improves circulation, distributing nutrients more efficiently
it improves blood and nerve supply to muscle
promotes improved muscle tone through nerve stimulation
calms nerves and reduces stress
improves removal of toxins from the body
reduces inflammation and pain

Reflexology is a holistic non-invasive therapy and treats the person as a whole. It is based upon the idea that health is the result of harmony between the body, mind and spirit, and any extreme stress of any kind, either physical, psychological, social or environmental is detrimental to good health.

The initial consultation helps build a complete picture of the individual so that any underlying causes of poor health can be identified and appropriate advice given.

Reflexology has been shown to be effective for numerous disorders including:

Stress-related conditions
Back and neck pain
Migraine
Arthritis
Sleep disorders
Hormonal imbalances
Digestive disorders
Sports injuries
Allergies
Tiredeness
Depression

Reflexology does not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe.
