Hello!
According to our local newspapers, an new Naval museum is planned. The teacher
Sindre Torp is working with the establishment at Helligvær. They have
collected numerous objects from the British war ships HMS India (1915) and HMS
Effingham (1940). The years in (..) are when they sank in the Helligvær/Bliksvær
area.

Hello Bjørn.
I have some more information on India 7940 tons own by Peninsular &
Oriental Steam Navigation Co.
The liner India was taken over by the Admiralty in 1914 and commissioned ancillary
cruiser under Cdr. W.G.A.Kennedy, having a complement of 301. On
8th, 1915, she was torpedoed by German submarine U 22 Cap. Hopper.
The India sank in 6 min. with a loss of ten officers and 150 ratings, The
survivors numbered 22 officers, including Cdr. Kennedy, and 119 ratings.
