William Higgins born 17/11/1900

married Agnes (Nan) Brown

William's trade was as a Quarryman, went to school at Loretto, Musselburgh - Later became Chief Burgh Engineer.Worked on the Forth Rail Bridge then became senior Engineer for the Forth Road bridge. William had two brothers : Andrew & Tom and sisters Mary & Annie. Annie (Hughes) 93 lives in Ratho Midlothian.

Agnes's mother's name was Jane Harley who lived in Balerno Midlothian. Agnes had 3 brothers who emigrated to Australia to take up sheep farming. Agnes's sister Peggy lives in Loanhead Mid-Lothian.

James born 26 May 1926 – 7 October 2008

married Euphemia Gilbertson 27/12/1952,

Kenneth 6/12/54,

Linda 22/1/56,

Stephen 27/12/58

lived most of their life in Edinburgh & Balerno.

In 1999 James and Euphemia (Fay) moved to Livingston.

 

James worked for many years in the Pharmaceutical Industry going back to the days of Pinkerton & Gibson and Raimes Clark - Leith based companies. James also served in the post war years with the RNVR HMS Killiekrankie Granton.

Euphemia's mother was Deliah Gilbertson Nee Balsillie Kingdom of Fife. Deliah Sailed on the SS Mauretania just after Titanic disaster. Deliah was an extensive traveller to Canada, USA and Europe. Lived most of her life in Granton View Edinburgh over looking Granton harbour.

Family : Alick, Agnes, Euphemia, Deliah,Thomas, May. All live in Canada except Euphemia.

Barbara and Kenny had a unique wedding being married by a priest Fr Hendry and a minister Rev Simpson at Currie Kirk Midlothian 20/9/75. Barbara's Family: Lived in Currie Mid Lothian.

Father - James Steele.James had two brothers John & Robert

 

Mother Jessie Brown of Stoneyburn.

 

Barbara has a brother: John Steele Married to Eileen Elms with Son Jamie and daughter Sarah.

Barbara's direct family are related to Jean Armour who was made famous in the Life and immortal Works of Robert Burns. Jessie Steel now lives in East Calder West Lothian.

Amazazing co-incidence Yvonne’s Mum Susan’s mum Mary was born 7th May 1911 had an auntie called Mary Anne Gaffney who married Lawrence Higgins (See Top of page) Yvonne’s Grandmother Mary McGlone had 3 brothers Andrew, Thomas and Edward and a sister Margaret.
