Classic garden design calls for a different
approach from other gardens. Formality is the key, and it will help if you can
develop a sense of continuity throughout the garden.
Paving
Keep paving as
symmetrical as possible and avoid crazy paving or informal patterns. If using
recycled fabrics use whole stone slabs or bricks - the older the
better.
Gravel
Gravel can be
used, but is best kept very formal, and should be contained within its allotted
space by hard edges of brick or paving.
Lawn
Try to keep
this as uniform and weed free as possible, since it will be creating its own
textured effect.
