back to Plants You can further ensure that
your new plants get off to a great start by following these simple rules:
Make sure your
soil is in good condition, well dug, rich in organic matter and fertile. On
poor soils, add a little compost to the planting hole. Water
containerised plants thoroughly before turning them out of their containers and
again as soon as they have been planted. If roots are congested,
tease them out before planting. When planting trees or shrubs,
mix a little bonemeal into the soil of the planting hole. Stake
tall plants securely until established. Water regularly and
thoroughly throughout the first summer after planting.
Add some compost to the planting hole on poor
soil
Plants need water, absorbed mainly through their roots, in which
is dissolved naturally occurring mineral elements. These include phosporus,
nitrogen, potassium, sulphur magnesium and others.
