Hi there,
My name is Clyde Rodger and this is the result of a new found interest I have in my home town of Wishaw. I have been interested in classic trucks or "lorries" for a number of years now. This interest stems from my father and grandfather who have, at some point, either driven or repaired these bastions of British, or indeed Scottish heritage.
If anyone has any more information on the content, not only the trucks, but of Wishaw's past, then please let me know so that I can expand this site. The work is my own, so far !! and the accuracy of information is correct to the best of my knowledge
Wishaw.....H.G.V. capital of Lanarkshire ??
The traditional market town of Wishaw is situated 15 miles south of Glasgow on the A721. Wishaw is known worldwide for its now defunct, steel making plant Ravenscraig, which operated from 1953 to early 1993 under the management of the British Steel Corporation. It is a little known fact that Wishaw was at the forefront of the heavy automotive revolution that was sweeping the nation at the turn of the century. No other town in Scotland can boast such a grand heritage during this revolution. At its peak in 1915 Wishaw had three lorry manufacturers in the town.
