Dulcet Technologies, based on the Carnaby Industrial Estate in Yorkshire, have developed a useful device, the FoneFan.

This gadget clips to your mobile phone and plays a stream of cooling air against the user's face. Although ostensibly designed to reduce the sweating often apparent in lengthy calls, this is also cleverly jumping on the mobile phone health-hazard bandwagon - but they got in first so have the advantage.

The really great thing about this, though, is it doesn't need any batteries or solar cells, it is entirely powered by the phone's own microwave emissions!
