About this site  

I started the site to support students on RYA Shorebased Courses at local colleges. I have also taught at Bisham Abbey, Westview Sailing, and Oxford University YC, and numerous yacht clubs. The site supplements the available RYA and other publications with a lot more detail and (I hope!) interesting narrative. Feedback, questions and suggestions are welcome.

I owned a Moody 336 'Skyva II' for 10 years and now have a Jeanneau 43DS 'Philippa' and a National Merlin Rocket dinghy (3054 After Myth).  

I have sailed for over 35 years, starting in dinghy racing, later taking to cruising in the English Channel with some cruiser racing.  Skyva II was an ISC Class Winner in the Round the Island Race in 2001 and 2002, finishing 15th overall  in 2001 

Skysail Skills Charts are quick reference resources and learning aids for all the core shorebased  subjects up to Yachtmaster level, and Radar.  

My RYA qualifications are:
    -    Yachtmaster Offshore 
    -    Yachtmaster Shorebased Instructor
    -    Radar Instructor
    -    Inland Waterways Helmsman Instructor (no longer practising!)
