House Baenre (First house of Menzoberranzan)

House Baenre:
House Baenre was recognised by the 20 stalagmites and 10 stalactites that encompassed it, the whole structure glowed with fairie fire, blue at the outlying towers and purple at the central dome.

Matron Yvonnel Baenre:
Matron Yvonnel Baenre who was very old and spent so long in that position that only she knows her true name. She met her demise at the hands of Bruenor Battlehammer (King of Mithril Hall), in Seige of Darkness when Matron Baenre leads the Drow in persist of Drizzt Do'Urden, to invade Mithril Hall.

Dantrag Baenre:
Dantrag was weapon master of house Baenre. Tall and handsome with amber eyes, he carried two swords, one of which (Khazid'hea or "Cutter") was made in the surface world; this sentient sword had an evil intelligence of its own. Always under the shadow of Zaknafein Do'Urden, he was happy to challenge his son Drizzt Do'Urden to a duel, and met his demise despite the quickening power of his magic bracers. Cattie-Brie, Drizzt's ally, claimed his sword Khazid'hea.

Gromph Baenre:
Gromph is the eldest son of Matron Baenre. He is an accomplished wizard and the arch mage of Menzoberranzan and the head of Sorcere (Menzoberranzan's wizard academy). He controls much power in the city because of his position despite the limitation of being a male in a matriarchal society, and even other wizards fear him for his many spells and potent magic items. He is the first teacher in the arcane arts.

Doquaio Baenre:
Doquaio is the second son of Yvonnel Baenre, he is deceased, little is known of how he met his demise.

Triel Baenre:
Matron Mother of house Baenre and head of Arach-Tinilith, Triel is the eldest daughter of Matron Baenre. She is short and bad-tempered but patient and calculating. She disliked her mother's schemes, knowing that if her mother died she would inherit much trouble, and when her mother did die, she went to work to control some of the chaos she inherited.

Liriel Vandree (Baenre):
Liriel is the daughter of Gromph and a minor female noble of house Vandree. After her father discovered her talent for arcane magic, he had her mother murdered and adopted her. She studied wizardry under him as well as others such as Kharza-kzad Xorlarrin. Triel Baenre forced her to enter Arach-Tinilith despite her and Gromph's protest. She left the Underdark to explore the world and bears a magic amulet of the Rus that can sustain location-based magic when away from that location. She has amber eyes like her father and is a friend of Fyodor, a Rashemen berserker.

Bladen'Kerst Baenre:
Bladen'Kerst was the second daughter of Matron Baenre, behind Triel. She was incredibly sadistic, and even her mother found it hard to control her. She carried a five-headed snake whip, and she was slain by Gandalug Battlehammer at the end of the drow invasion of Mithral Hall.

Vendes Baenre:
Vendes was one of Matron Baenre's daughters. Called the "unholy executioner," she was the master torturer of house Baenre. She used physical instruments as well as exotic poisons to affect her charges, and sometimes the poor victims were turned to stone afterward and put on display to show her skill. She carried a wand of viscid globs and was killed by Drizzt Do'Urden after he escaped her torture.

Quenthel Baenre:
Quenthel was another daughter of the matron of House Baenre. A drow priestess who rose through the ranks quickly with Lolth's favour, she was hated by Triel and Gromph for her ambition, slain by Drizzt DoDo'Urden during the end of the drow invasion of Mithral Hall, but somehow returned to Menzoberranzan to become the Mistress of Arach-Tinilith.

Sos'Umptu Baenre:
Sos'Umptu is a drow priestess and keeper of the Baenre house chapel. Content with watching over her precious chapter, she is the least ambitious drow Matron Baenre had ever known.

Berg'inyon Baenre:
Berg'inyon is the youngest son of Matron Baenre. He led the lizard riders of his house. He was a classmate of Drizzt at Melee Magthere, the Menzoberranzan martial academy. He may have joined Jarlaxle's mercenaries after the siege at Mithral Hall.

Yerri'thal Baenre:
Yerri'thal is the most accomplished swordsmith in all of Menzoberranzan.

Merith:
Merith is a commoner's daughter adopted into house Baenre because of her priestly talent. She is sadistic, not subtle in any way, and has no sense of intrigue or protocol.

Jeggred Baenre:
Jeggred is the son of Triel Baenre and her personal bodyguard sacrificed to lolth in the new demon web pits by Quenthal Baenre.

Waevra Baenre:
Waevra is a traitor and renegade.

Andzrel Baenre:
Andzrel is the Weapon master of House Baenre and a Commander of the Army of the Black Spider.

Zal'therra Baenre:
Zal'therra is the cousin of Triel and is also a Commander of the Army of the Black Spider.

Nauzhror Baenre:
Nauzhror is another cousin of Triel, Master of Sorcere and acting part time Archmage of Menzoberranzan.

Maigneth:
Maigneth is the Captain of the Baenre House Guard.

Wilara Baenre:
Wilara is a personal attendant to Triel.

Vrellin Baenre:
Vrellin is Triel's nephew.

Prath Baenre:
Prath is a 1st year student of Sorcere, in his 30s.

Julani Baenre:
Julani is the Master of Evocation.

Grendan Baenre:
Grendan is a 10th year student at Sorcere, he favors Illusion.

Noori Baenre:
Noori is a cousin to Gromph and Triel, 10th year student at Sorcere.

Zoran Baenre:
Zoran is a 2nd year student at Sorcere.

Zillak Baenre:
Zillak is Gromph's prime assassin.

Jarlaxle Baenre:
Jarlaxle is a drow mercenary and leader of the Bregan D'aerthe mercenary company. He is (sometimes) an ally of House Baenre, although you can see on several occasions that his band's services are available to the highest bidder or to whoever suits him.
