Visit from Claire Arnault

Claire Arnault, a French student from Grenoble, stayed with us in July. Claire wanted to brush up on her English (although this was already very good!) and so came to stay with us. As our French is very bad this meant that she had to speak English the whole time. Claire went to Leiston High School during the day (thanks to Mr. Robinson for arranging this and to Jenna for looking after Claire at school). In the evening she came home and ate with us. At the weekend we went to London to see Emily who was doing her work experience and staying with Gail and Dilip. Emily flew to Grenoble on 3 August to stay with Claire so that she could improve her French. Gail and I travelled to France by car to collect Emily on 9 August. We came back via Luxembourg hoping to see the total eclipse of the sun ... but it was overcast and we couldn't see a thing!

On 18 August we visited Grenoble again on holiday on our way to Italy, where we rented a villa in Tuscany at Principina a Mare near Grosetto. The final picture is the view from Clare's bedroom window!

We returned home on 1 September 1999 via Brussels.
