My Life in Malta (1958-68)I lived in Malta from the age of 5 until my 16th birthday. I went to Verdala Royal Naval School and then Tal Handaq. I returned to England in 1968 to live with my grandparents in Ipswich. I did my 'A' levels at the Northgate Grammar School in Ipswich. On the right is a view of Malta from a satellite - Sicily is the large triangular island to the North (right). Click on the image to enlarge it:
Here are some pictures of our life in Malta. The first photo is our first car, a Ford Prefect, which my father bought after we moved to Malta in 1958.

The first photo of the next sequence is our 2nd car, a Ford Consul Classic, outside our house at St Georges Road. After living in Malta for 3 years and my father renewing his contract, we flew back to England in July 1961 and bought this car in Ipswich. We then drove back across the continent via France and Italy and caught the ferry from Naples to Malta (the penultimate shot in this sequence shows us at the top of the leaning tower of Pisa in 1961):

Here are some views of Malta including the Grand Harbour with the Ark Royal (a familiar sight in the old days). The last ones are my favourite part of the Island - the South West where the cliffs fall hundreds of feet straight into the sea:
