Katie and I spent a weekend in Warsaw from 28 February - 3 March 2002. We stayed at the Hotel Mercure. We visited loads of places, including the Palace of Culture, the Water Palace, the Old Town and the Madame Curie Museum (she was born in Poland). There are also many war memorials incluidng the impressive Monument to the Fallen in the East and Monument to the Uprising (see 7th and 8th photos below). I was amazed at how much the Polish nation has gone through and the sacrifices made by the Polish people over more than a century of agression.
