The C. & G. Mears bell from the redundant church of St Matthew was a milestone for the Trust as it was the 100th bell we helped to re-locate.
The bell remains in the diocese as the tonal analysis showed it was suitable to form part of the Ringing in the
Millennium augmentation and restoration project at Emley, Yorkshire. We use software running on a PC to calculate the frequencies that make up the sound of a bell.
In 2002, three years after we re-located the 100th bell, we reached the target of 200 bells re-located.
Please look at our bell recycling page for the latest information on the total number of
"re-cycled" bells and their proposed destinations.
