Neil Rashbrook from four games while Graham Williams achieved 66% from six games. I wish to thank these people and the other eight representatives for their commitment to what was a good season with us retaining the league. Now how do we win the Jamboree and Knockout competitions next year?

Secretary’s report.

Another successful season for the club, with our first team remaining unbeaten throughout the season, and comfortably securing promotion to Division 1. It has been a few years since a Stevenage team were in the top division, but in recent seasons they have been getting closer, and now they are there. Further success for Stevenage as our Under 125 team won the knock-out competition for the third consecutive season, beating Hoddesdon in the final.

The Hertford & District League brought us further success, as we edged out Hoddesdon on game points to win the League.

A number of Stevenage players competed for the county during the season. Phil Maguire and Chris Majer were regular contributors to the Herts 1st team, who won the ECF Minor Counties title, beating Leicestershire in the final. Mike Price led the Herts U150 team to the Southern Counties title for the first time, and for good measure completed the double by leading a Herts U135 team to victory in the Southern Counties Jamboree. Dave Belton was in scintillating form for the Herts U125 team, and won the award for most successful player in the Herts U125 team. Kai Jaeger, Graham Howard, Neil Rashbrook, Mark Duggin and Paul Bainger also made successful contributions to the county during the season.

We welcomed Graham Williams to the club, while Adam Batson and Dominic Robinson sampled the joys of fatherhood with lessons on the Alekhine for their offspring.

We finished the season with a well supported Blitz tournament organised by Kai Jaeger, and won by Chris Majer.
