It was proposed to maintain the subscriptions for this season at £60, with a reduced subscription of £30 for pensioners and students, and late membership rates after 1st January 2009 of £40 and £20 respectively.  This proposal was accepted nem con.

7.      Election of Officers

The following officers were elected for the 2008/09 season:-

8.      Season 2008/09

a)      Membership list. A membership list was circulated, and it was requested that members should check the details to ensure these were correct.

b)     Match results. It was requested that all match results should be sent via the on-line reporting system. Dave Belton agreed to submit the results for the 4th team.

c)      Dates for the diary. It was reported that the club would be closed on 22nd September, due to the clash with the Charter Fair. Further dates of 11th and 12th October for the Capel, Burn and Bunce, and 29th and 30th November for the Herts Congress were recommended to the members.

9.      ECF and County business

Mike Price summarised the changes that were taking place in the grading system, and explained that the new grades would be implemented for the start of the 2009/10 season.

It was reported that Hertfordshire would be entering teams in the Southern Counties Open, Under 150, Under 125 and Under 100 competitions. Mike Price stated that he had again taken on the task of captain of the Under 150 team for this season, and that some home matches were to be played at Stevenage.

10.    Any other business

Adam Batson again suggested that we should seek to give more help to players in reviewing and analysing individual games from their matches, rather than just playing ten minute games against each other, and this view was endorsed by Mark Duggin. It was agreed that this was an idea that should be pursued on nights when we were not hosting home matches.

Derick Price raised the question of an internal club competition. After some discussion concerning format, Steve Rawlings agreed to draft some rules for a handicap Swiss competition.

The meeting was declared closed at 9.35 p.m.
