APPENDIX B
Proposal II.
I've created a wiki on the Internet: http://stevenage-chess.wikidot.com/
A wiki is a website which can be edited by everyone. The best-known example for a wiki is probably the most successful wiki ever, the Wikipedia.
The Chess wiki is a closed one, meaning that only people with an account can do anything at all. Everybody who has actually an account can read, change, add and delete pages.
To get an account, you need an invitation. Currently there are four people who already have an account: Adam Batson, Mike Price, Dominic Robinson and myself.
Please note that you have to specify a strong password, otherwise the wiki is sooner or later flooded with porns and ads. So the spouses first name won't do.
According to Adam Batson's idea the wiki does not only offer a database with games of those players who participate, it comes also with information about players, so you can work out who did play for, say, Watford III on board 2 in the 2008/2009 season.
Apart from this the wiki is supposed to hold all sorts of other information:
* Team results * Schedule for the new season * Contact details for all members * Links to other chess web sites * Results of the Blitz event * The AGM minutes 2007 and 2008 * Information about events elsewhere * A chess software which proofed to be useful at the Blitz tournament * ... (more to come)
Note that the wiki is free - it does not cost anything. |
