A Brief History

The Ross Operatic and Dramatic Society was founded in 1921. The productions in those days were mostly musicals - Gilbert & Sullivan etc. Their shows were staged in the New Theatre in High Street - (formerly the Corn Exchange) situated over what is now Messrs. Lerego & Sons Garage. Eventually this was no longer used and productions were put on in schools and Public Halls. Although the Society was very grateful for these venues it made staging productions extremely difficult from all angles - sets, rehearsals etc.
