The project to install the second phase of the back pumping scheme between locks 7 and 11 (St Johns Flight) to overcome water shortages, requires the construction of a pumping station at Lock 7. There is a requirement to improve the water level control between all of the locks. This will involve the construction of new crest weirs at each of the locks. The increased water flows have caused the existing bywash channels to fail. Our primary tasks will be to excavate the existing works. ascertain what needs to be done and tio omplement the repairs, all of which which will provide ample areas for volunteers to tackle a variety of tasks. . The work will be based on various locks over about a half mile apart section of the canal at St Johns. No previous experience is necessary as we have our own registered instructors.
