Closepack

This Vasart Closepack design is quite common and often several of the canes are of rather poor quality. This type of weight may have been a regular production item and could have been the work of any of Salvador, Vincent and Augustine.

Some collectors and dealers believe weights of this type to be Vasart Ltd. (1956 to 1964) or even early Strathearn (1964 to ?). Under UV the example here shows as earlier. However, further research is needed to discover when the glass changed to a lead-base. It is possible that for the first few years of Vasart Ltd. the glass was of the same type as for the early years.
