This weight has the same simplicity
as the single flower over red and white jasper. In this instance, a bouquet of
one large flower, five small ones and a closed bud is set over a green and
white jasper ground.
The large flower has light blue
petals with dark blue stripes and uses as its central element a PY cane of
complex form, having a surround of blue cog canes. The small flowers are in
striped light blue, white, yellow, pink and dark blue. The bud is in striped
pink. An interesting feature is that all the small flowers have red centres
except for the dark blue one which has a yellow centre.
This weight only contributes to the
range of PY canes. It is my only example with that particular style of
signature cane, hence its use in this cane-focused article.
Clear glass indicates 1950s or
later. UV tests confirm the Caithness period of 1963 to 1970.
