Some wear to the surface of the dome detracts slightly from the brightness of the canes in this item. Although not a matter of proven fact, there does seem to be a general simplicity in this weight that would suggest an "early" piece.

The use of clear glass rather than a coloured ground helps to give a "relaxed feel" to the colours, which may otherwise have suffered from excessive contrast.

The canes in the outer row are very bright. They are also quite poorly formed, but in a way, the slippage of the white through the orange adds a certain extra something to the design. The two inner rows both have good complex canes and are set quite neatly. The inner cane has an often-seen colour scheme of red (or dark orange) with yellow.
