Roundels

The canes in this weight are very much like "typical Vasart" canes, and there is also the four cane central motif that is mentioned several times in this article. But the setting and finishing of the high-quality roundels design makes it a good bet that it was the work of Salvador Ysart rather than Vincent, Augustine or another worker.

Visually the colour scheme, as well as the patterning, is very pleasing. Note how, for two of the groups the outer cane is the same as an adjacent group's central cane.

The green stripes on powdery white ground is very unusual. Although there is some movement of the stripes where the central canes have been set, this does not detract from the overall quality of this item.
