Spoke Pattern

Some untidiness detracts slightly from the otherwise striking appearance of this weight.

Formed as a "Cartwheel" or "Spoke" pattern, this design became a regular feature of production weights from the Later Vasart, Strathearn and Perthshire Paperweights companies.

The inner portion has canes with outer and inner Daisy patterns around a central single cane with a pattern similar to those seen in signed "Y" cane weights. The outer canes all have a thick outer casing of white with a flashing of colour to the outside. The twist canes have a thin central rod with a loose double spiral around it.

The turquoise outer canes and the yellow inner ones are the most prominent in the colour scheme. But the pale pink flashing of the canes with the inner blue and white daisy pattern draws the attention almost as well. The ground is very dark and this adds a degree of mystery to the background of the loose, open twists.
