(This one puzzled me for a long time until I began to get a better understanding of cane structures. At first I thought it might even be a very early Perthshire PP1 design!) Two rows of canes enclose a pink central ribbed cane with twisted star centre. A "1-1-2-2" pattern is formed by the 10 coloured twists. Slightly mottled dark purple ground. |

Although the "1-1-2-2" pattern made me initially think of Perthshire's PP1 design, it also caused me to wonder whether that might help to date this weight. Perhaps this is a Strathearn piece from around 1969? But I would not like to make any suggestions as to which company first used this particular design! Most of the canes demonstrate a ribbed tube-like structure with the tops being of a smaller diameter. This, together with the pastel greens and pinks tends to lean heavily towards a Strathearn attribution. Note the very neat form of the twists with simple but effective banding of colours. |

A fairly low but well balanced dome. Clear and well formed. |
