Weight Number 17

A single row of pink and blue cog canes surrounds a central pink and blue star-type cane.

A "1-2" pattern is formed by the 8 white and red twists.

Black ground.

Personally I like the use of the large bold canes and although there are slight imperfections in some, this weight falls into my own "preferred" category of designs.

Bubbles at the junctions of the canes clearly show the depth of clear glass around each.

These have to be Strathearn canes. Pastel pink with bold blue, black and white together, cream and grey-blue.

Note that the row of pink and blue canes have an outer 20-rib pattern with a cruciform interior. The white and black canes have an even more pronounced 20-rib form with an eight-point daisy central motif.

The twists are simple but effective and the strong red adds just the right amount of contrast to the mainly pastel colours.

An excellent shape.

The ground is high-domed and the amount of clear glass surrounding the lower portions helps to define the overall design.
