Weight Number 19

A row of blue star canes circles a large white cane with a red star-type centre.

A "1-1" pattern is formed by the 12 yellow-green and blue twists.

Pink ground.

Much bubbling is apparent at the surface of the canes.

Generally, this weight has a good colour balance with the blue canes having yellow centres and the outer yellow canes having dark interiors. These rows are either side of smaller pink canes with blue centres.

The twists seem to be identical to those in Weight 18. But, in this example, the colouring works much better than in the earlier one.

A high dome and one that is free of bubbles. It is only the bubbles on the surface of the canes that detract slightly from the quality of this piece.

The ground is gently domed but looks as though it would have benefited from an extra gather of clear glass in dome.

As for an attribution, I feel that this is another weight that could be a "transitional" piece. If it is Vasart, then it's a very well produced one. If it is Strathearn, then it may well be an earlier one.
