Build your own Rigs.

Its is all part of the fun of our sport. When you can't be on the beach or Pier, then sit at home and prepare some rigs. Below are links to drawings and data page which show the main types of Rigs. The Snood lengths are what is typically used, but I have heard of guys fishing with hook snoods of 25 mm when fishing on snaggy bottoms. The key to success, is do not be afraid to experiment and remember, if you come up with something different, that proves successful, let us know about it.

A Simple Live Bait Rig

When there are a lot of whiting about try this simple idea

The Two Hook Plaice Rig

This Rig provides two "Flowing Snoods" with plenty of beads, linked to a main snood fitted with an attractor.

The Double Runner

This Rig provides two "Flowing Snoods" with the benefit of providing excelant bite indication.

The Two Hook Flapper

Like its sister rig, the three hook flapper, this rig gets it's name simply because it presents the bait on two hooks which flap around.

The Three Hook Flapper

The three hook flapper gets it's name simply because it presents the bait on three hooks which flap around

The Pulley

When used on snaggy bottoms, the full benefits of this rig come into play.

The Boom Paternoster

This paternoster rig is an ideal rig for fishing from Piers or Jetty's. It is not suitable for distance casting

The Flattie Boom Paternoster Rig

This rig is superb for attracting flatties in a variety of conditions.

You have seen in the magazines that "Jim Smith caught a 6 lb Bass using squid on a Pennel.."  and then wondered what a Pennel was, well .......

This rig provides a flowing trace that will sit near the sea bed.

The One Up & One Down

This is a very basic but effective rig which present two hooks and therefore doubles your chances of a bite.

The Wishbone Rig is not a rig that will win the "Most Frequently Used" prize, however it is one that is worth a try.
