Dorsk 81 is a humanoid clone, and is identical to the other members of his family unit. This is true of all the rest of Khomm's population. This meant that there was no difference in status between the inhabitants, and life was fair. They are all clones, as the Khomm people feel that they have achieved perfection in their society and genetics. This occurred a thousand years before Palpatine and his Empire, and since then there have been virtually no genetic abnormalities. That is, until Dorsk 81.
Dorsk 81 has all the familiar signs of coming from Khomm:he is thin, bald, and has smooth green-and-yellow skin. He is called Dorsk 81 because he is the 81st clone of the original Dorsk. But it soon became apparent that there was something unusual about him. He could feel the Force flow through him, and was able to manipulate it in subtle ways. As a result, he felt himself a failure to his race, and thought that he would be no good to anyone. But then he found the New Republic and heard about their attempt to rebuild the Jedi Knights.
Dorsk decided that he wanted to use his powers for good, and so travelled to Yavin Four in order to be trained by the last of the Jedi Knights, Luke Skywalker. Luke had set up a Jedi training centre in one of the Massassi Temples on the forest moon, and Dorsk 81 became one of the first twelve students to enrol in the Jedi Academy.
His studies went well, and he realised that he might indeed be able to harness his potential in the Force, but there was one problem: food. On Khomm, he had been brought up on highly processed foods, but on Yavin, he was having to eat natural foods. This would not, however, prove to be the worst of his problems. As the studies continued, Dorsl felt more and more confident, until an incident in one of the underground lakes. It was one of the lakes where Luke taught the trainees to float above the water, but bubbles of volcanic gas started to well up. The other students managed to block them, but Dorsk panicked, and had to be aided by another student, Gantoris. Gantoris saved him, but was later killed by the spirit of the Sith Lord Exar Kun.
Kun then turned one of Luke's Jedi-to-be, Kyp Durron, to his side. Together they managed to move Luke's spirit from his body, and trap him in a place just beyond reality. With the help of Dorsk, Jacen and Jaina managed to protect Luke's body from the winged creatures that Kun summoned. He then joined the other trainees and helped them trap Kun in the room which contained Luke's prone body. There was no escape for the Sith Lord, unless he could turn the monds of the trainees. He tried Dorsk, who he knew was beginning to doubt himself and think he was a failure. But Luke had taught Dorsk that this was a strength, and Dorsk 81 used it as one. Together the Jedi trainees destroyed Kun's soul forever, and freed Luke.
This experience showed Dorsk that he was not useless, and that he woukd one day find his place in the order of things. Until then, he continues to train, and will one day become a fully-fledged Jedi Knight.
