The little Chadra-Fan known as Kabe comes from the planet Chad, a planet whose species was decimated by earthquakes. Kabe was one of the lucky survivors, and was taken to Tatooine by slavers as an infant. She was left behind after the slavers' hasty departure, and had to grow up on Tatooine alone, knowing little of her heritage. But as she grew up, she developed traits that showed that she had not forgotten all of her Chadrian heritage. Whenever possible, Kabe would go in search of pleasure, or tinker with anything that was lying around. Above all, Kabe could not be alone, she needed someone to be around, to be her friend.
Being small and having quick reflexes, she became a skilled thief, but to her this was only a game, not a crime. She was good enough at it that she made a livelihood. Quite often she would dress up as a Jawa and charge poeple for Guild services, which of course did not exist. The local Jawas became annoyed, but still she carried on. Naturally she had been caught thieving many times, but she was nearly always let off. Not because she could escape, but because of her friend, Muftak.
Muftak is a Talz, born on Tatooine and completely in the dark about his cultural background. Muftak is one of the only Talz left in the galaxy, and his hime planet, AlzocIII, was subjugated by the Empire and cut off from the rest of the galaxy. The whereabouts of the other Talz is not known. As they are large creatures with huge hands and immense strength, only the brave or the stupid speak to a Talz.
Having grown up with no-one to watch over him, Muftak walked the streets of Mos Eisley alone. He earned a living by keeping his four eys open, collecting information on the population of Mos Eisley, information that was worth credits. After a while, the Talz came across Kabe, and he took the small Chadra-Fan under his wing. He sheltered her under Docking Bay 83 for five years, becoming extremely protective of her. Theor relationship became stronger and stronger, but stayed purely platonic. Even so, it is obvious that they love each other dearly, and would do anything for the each other.
They lived on the credits that Kabe stole and the credits that Muftak earned selling information. Most of their money was spent in Chalmun the Wookie's cantina, where Muftak would engage Momaw Nadon in semi-intellectual discussions, and where Kabe would drink her favourite drink, Juri Juice.
