Barada

Barada came from the planet Klatooine, where children were supposed to respect their parents. Barada rebelled, and showed little, if any, respect at all. Therefore he was sold to a garage owner, who used him to do menial jobs. But the garage owner lost his business to Jabba the Hutt in a sabacc game. The garage was lost because the game had been rigged, though no-one said anything on pain of death. That was how Barada came into the service of Jabba. He became one of Jabba's most loyal servants, and would remain so indefinately. This was because Barada would never be able to pay off his contract to Jabba. Before the garage had been lost, Barada was saving up to pay for his freedom. When he only 2000 credits short, Jabba took over. Barada was a highly skilled mechanic, and a great asset to Jabba in the repulsorlift pool. Jabba would never let him leave, and so charged him for his board and room the exact amount he was being paid. And because Barada would never be able to fond work outside Jabba's palace, he would remain in the huge slug's work until he was of no more use.

Barada was skilled in vehicle maintenance, and as a result was put in charge of Jabba's repulsorpool. All the worm's vehicles were under his care, including the huge Ubikkian sail barge used by Jabba on special occasions. Being a loner, Barada did not have many friends. He was, however, quite close to Ephant Mon. Ephant would talk to Barada, confiding in him and seeking advice. As Ephant was also Jabba's spy in the palace, Barada was always kept informed of the various plots and goings-on in the palace.

When the rancor was killed by Luke, Jabba ordered Luke, Han and Chewie to be killed. He chose to throw them into the Great Pit of Carkoon. Barada and a few others escorted the trio on to a sand skiff, which would be used to push them into the Sarlacc. But Jabba's underestimation of the trio proved fatal for Barada, as well as everyone else involved. The three daring Rebels escaped, with Leia and the two droids. In the battle in which they made their escape, Barada was the first to die, his body falling into the mouth of the Sarlacc.

Barada was finally free of Jabba, and his spirit was let loose to choose whatever path it wanted to take.
