Elder Sh’tk’ith

Just after the Battle of Endor, the planet Bakura was invaded by a reptilian species called the Ssi-ruuk. Their leader was Elder Sh’tk’ith, also known as Bluescale.

The Ssi-ruuk came from the planet Lwekk, a planet dominated by two Ssi-ruuk species. Bluescale was a member of the more powerful of these two, who were distinguishable from the inferior species by their narrower faces and very small blue scales. Both species shared the tongues in their noses, the long faces, the eyes with nictitating triple eyelids, and the long tails. The lesser species, who have black Vs on their foreheads to distinguish them, are in charge of the military. These are sleek and have russet scales. There is a third species on the planet, thought to be a genetic throwback. The P’wecks have drooping skin and eyes, short tails, and not the greatest wits in the galaxy. It was only fitting, then, that they be used as servants for the Ssi-ruuk.

Hardly venturing out of their own system, Bluescale eventually led an expedition to the Outer Rim, the Ssi-ruuk having pretty much taken control over their own system by then. In order to fuel their military, the reptiles had invented a process called entechment. This process placed the souls and electrical brain impulses of beings into the battle droids that the reptiles used instead of starfighters. After many experiments, it was found that human brains and souls were the best for entechment. It was after having raided, captured and killed many human colonies that the Ssi-ruuk came across a ten-year-old boy called Dev Sibwarra. He was fairly unique amongst the other humans the reptiles had encountered, in that Dev had Force talents. The Ssi-ruuk recognised that these talents could well help them in the entechment processes, and Dev was taken as a slave.

Although he had seen the carnage that the Ssi-ruuk were capable of, Dev soon became drawn to them, thanks to Bluescale’s drugs and his hypnotic eye. Torture also played an intricate part in making Dev turn his back on his species, and after a while he had embraced the Ssi-ruuk way as his own. Bluescale did find it necessary, however, to repeat his brainwashing process every so often, so that no thought of rebellion could enter Dev’s mind.

When attacking the outpost world of Bakura, Bluescale suddenly found a new use for Dev. The young Force user had located a Jedi, one with strong powers. Bluescale realised that this strong Jedi could help facilitate the entechment process, maybe even making it so that humans could be enteched from across the galaxy. That would mean the Ssi-ruuk would not have to invade the worlds, just sit back and watch the galaxy fall into their laps.

After much persuading, Dev was forced to lure the Jedi to the Shriwirr, the Ssi-ruuk command ship. But it was here that Bluescale saw the error of his ways. The Jedi was Luke, and Elder Sh’tk’ith found that the bond between humans, and more so between Jedi, was far too strong to break. Dev turned on his captors, and slew many of them. Then the two Jedi escaped, while Bluescale saw his invasion fleet being destroyed before his eyes.

The imperial cruiser Dominant dealt the final blow, and destroyed Bluescale’s ship. Everyone on board was killed

Since Bakura, the Ssi-ruuk have laid dormant, not daring to risk another beating of that kind. But it is only a matter of time before they gather their courage to have another stab at taking over the galaxy. Palpatine’s Empire may be dead, but maybe a different one is just around the corner.
