Gallandro

Gallandro was a native of the planet Yix. Yix was a small backwater planet, that was terrorised by Goelitz, a colony in a nearby system. Goelitz often attacked Yix, but Gallandro never paid any attention to these. To him, it was just something that happened to other people, albeit to people around him. That was until the day he witnessed his parents murdered in front of him.

He was young when he was orphaned, and so spent much of his childhood in orphanages. As soon as he was old enough, he joined the planetary militia, becoming a legendary soldier. This was mainly because he had such a strong driving force behind him: hatred for the Goelitz. As his career progressed he volunteered for some of the most dangerous missions. While becoming a hero in some eyes, in others he was a man without a conscience, a man who was a danger not only to himself, but to others around him.

He left the military when the war with the Goelitz ended, and became a mecenary. During this time, Gallandro took on a number of jobs, as a bodyguard, bounty hunter, and assassin. Although he was constantly busy, he found the time to perfect his draw, becoming faster and faster all the time. Soon his adventures became known throughout the galaxy, especially the one when he hijacked the Quamar Messenger, on its maiden run, single-handedly. He soon got on the wrong side of the Assassins’ Guild, who sent men after Gallandro. But when he killed half of their Elite Circle, the Guild decided to leave him alone. He achieved the death mark on over a hundred worlds, and took out anyone who came near him.

The death marks meant that Gallandro found it difficult to travel the galaxy without attractine the attention of the authorities, so when Odumin made him an offer, he could not refuse. Odumin was a powerful sector manager the outlying Corporate Sector Authority. He wanted Gallandro to wipe out the Malorm Family dead. In return, he promised Gallandro a general amnesty. Gallandro completed the task easily, impressing Odumin so much that he gave the gunman a place on his staff of operatives. This gave Gallandro a more lucratice life, and he was able to indulge in more of the pleasures in life. This carried on until he met the Corellian pilot Han Solo.

Solo’s firs encounter with the gunman was on the planet Ammuud. Somehow they both ended up on the Millennium Falcon, which was caught in the tractor beam of an Espo Victory-class Destroyer. Neither man wanted to be caught by the Empire, but they both did not trust each other enough to do anything about it. In the end Han tricked Gallandro into taking a rigged security case. This sent neural shocks up Gallandro’s right arm. Knowing that he could not draw as fast wioth his left hand, Gallandro surrendered to Solo, humiliated.

A while later, the two men met for the second and last time. Gallandro was working for J’uoch by this time. J’uoch a mining corporation on the planet Dellalt. Solo and some partners had arrived on the planet to search for the Xim treasure ship Queen of Ranroon. When some robots went rogue, Han and Gallandro saved each other, and for a moment there was peace between the two. But Han soon found the treasure first, and when Gallandro stumbled upon him, the gunfighter challenged Solo to a duel. Gallandro got off the first shot, hitting Han in the shoulder. But unbeknownst to anyone in the chamber, the room had been rigged with a system to combat such actions. As Gallandro drew a bead on one of Han’s associates, the chamber lighted up as dozens of lasers shot towards Gallandro. The gunfighter was hit by most of them, his body burning up in the blaze of light.
