Oola

The beautiful Twi'lek girl came from the planet Ryloth. She lived in a city on the dark side of the planet, but was a seductive dancer. She could move her head tails in accentuating ways, and this caught the eye of Bib Fortuna. Ryloth was often scoured by slavers, and the clan heads on the planet would more often than not sell off their people for money. But Oola, that daughter of a clan head, was not sold. She was kidnapped along with a friend, Sienn. They were taking to Bib's training complex and made to work extremely hard by slave dancers. After four months, Bib declared them to be ready. Oola had never seen Jabba, and so knew absolutely nothing about the vile creature. She imagined that she would dance in his grand palace, dance in splendor and have her art appreciated. How wrong she was.

Bib had given the girls over to Jerris Rudd, who took the dancers to Tatooine. When in Mos Eisley he hid them so that he could attend upon more pressing business. A man approached them, saying he was Luke Skywalker. He told the Twi'leks that he had to meet Jabba and finish some business with him, but that afterwards he would take them from Tatooine and free them from slavery. Oola was very suspicious, but Sienn believed Luke and went off with him. She knew she had made the wrong decision when she saw Jabba for the first time. In her mind's eye, the Hutt was some handsome prince, or at least not this huge mound of blubber. As soon as he saw Oola, though, Jabba wanted her. She would not dance, but he kept her, knowing that soon she would dance for him, and then he would have his way with her.

Later the droids arrived, and Oola one again saw Luke, but this time as an image. She spoke secretly with Threepio, who informed her that Luke would be coming to rescue them and deal with Jabba. This gave Oola great hope, and that was why she danced for Jabba to the tune of 'Lapti Nek'. She danced her best dance, with graceful movements, knowing that she would never dance as well as this again, and that Jabba would never see her dance again. She ended with a beautiful pose, and the Hutt tugged on her neck chain. She had danced, now came the fun. But Oola resisted, and eventually Jabba became weary. He opened the trap-door, and dropped Oola into the rancor pit.

Soon after her death, the Rebels arrived and destroyed Jabba. Oola's body may have died, but her spirit had been set free.
