Pellaeon had in the service of the Empire for over fifty years. He was there when the Empire rose, and also when it fell. A young Corellian who dreamed of space, Pellaeon lied about his age and entered the Imperial Academy, whereupon he graduated in the top third of his class.
Pellaeon was promoted to the command crew of the Star Destroyer Chimaera after he saved a squadron of transport vessels from pirates. Once on board the destroyer, he managed to work gis way up to second in command.
Eventually Pellaeon was in command of the Chimaera, but not under normal circumstances. It was during the Battle of Endor, and the captain had been killed. Asuuming command of the vast ship, it was Pellaeon who ordered the retreat of the few Imperial ships that remained. He recignised that the Empire would not be victorious after the death of the Emperor, but especially after the loss of the Super Star Destroyer Executor.
The Empire remained without a leadre for five years, until a new being came from the Unknown Regions and took command of the Chimaera. His name was Thrawn, and in him Pellaeon saw hope at last. Thrawn led the Empire to several victories against the fledgling New Republic, but in the end underestimeated the power of the Dark Jedi he thought was under his control. Pellaeon could see that trouble was going to happen, but when his opinions were voiced, Thrawn assured him that all was in order. Eventually Pellaeon's fears became reality, and at the Battle odf Bilbringi, the Imperial Fleet found themselves in turmoil. It was then that Thrawn met his doom. His bodyguard, Rukh, stabbed him and killed him. With Thrawn dead, Pellaeon again had to order the Empire's retreat. The fleet jumped into hyperspace, and fled to the core systems. There, Pellaeon knew, they would be able to regroup and grow stronger.
The Emperor may be dead, but as long as there are men like Pellaeon around, the Empire will never die.
