Prince Isolder
As a member of the Hapan royal family, Prince Isolder is no
stranger to the machinations of politics. He
is the ruler of the Hapan Cluster, which is made up of sixty-three worlds.
Before he took the throne he was second in line behind his older brother,
but his brother was assassinated aboard his royal flagship.
Intent on finding the killer, the teenage Isolder went
undercover working as a pirateer for two days.
He eventually found the killer, and brought him back to Hapes.
Haravan was a pirate, and was killed in prison before he could divulge
who had hired him. Not wishing to
see the heir to the royal house of Hapes disappear again, he was assigned
bodyguards. They were Amazon-like
women, beautiful like all other Hapan women.
Isolder was assigned a personal bodyguard named Captain Astaria, who kept
him apprised of the political intrigues on Hapes.
Even though she was brilliant at her job, she had no idea of some of the
more devious plots. Only when
Isolder’s first love, Lady Ellian, was drowned in a reflecting pool did both
Astaria and Isolder realise that there was more to the plots than they ever
thought possible.
On an ambassadorial visit to Hapes, Princess Leia caught Isolder’s eye.
He was mesmerised by her beauty, and for the second time he was in love.
Almost immediately he decided to court her.
A short time later the space around Coruscant was filled with Hapan ships,
bringing jewels and gifts worth an incredible amount of credits.
The final jewel was Isolder himself, arriving on the planet to propose to
Leia. In a state of shock, Leia went
back to Hapes, not saying definitely whether or not she would marry Isolder.
She was still in love with Han. Even
so, Hapes reminded so of Alderaan, and Isolder’s charm and looks were starting
to win her over.
Unfortunately for her, Isodler’s mother, Queen Mother Ta’a Chume, did
not feel as her son did. She plotted
to kill Leia, just as she had Isolder’s brother and Lady Ellian.
Had it not been for the fast reflexes of Isolder’s bodyguards, Leia
would certainly have been killed. She
escaped further attempts when she was kidnapped and taken to the planet Dathomir
by Han.
Prince Isolder and Luke Skywalker pursued the couple, only to fall in love
with a Dathomirian witch called Teneniel Djo in the heat of battle.
Teneniel and the Hapan prince travelled back to Hapes together to get
married, leaving Han and Leia to do the same.
Upon arrival, they declared support for the
New
Republic
. Isolder and Teneniel had a
daughter named Tenel Ka, who was strong enough in the Force to be able to study
at Luke’s
Jedi
Academy
on Yavin 4.
During the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, Isolder allowed the Hapan fleet to be
used to repel the invaders, only to see virtually the whole fleet wiped out in
one go when Centrepoint Station fired. Isolder
took responsibility for the horrific tragedy, but the Hapan people also blamed
the Jedi, since it had been a Jedi who activated Centrepoint.
They were therefore not pleased at the thought of having a Jedi as their
queen. But they had to accept it
when Teneniel was poisond just before the Vong attacked Hapes.
Tenel Ka reluctantly took her rightful place as queen, displeasing Ta’a
Chume who had been grooming Jaina Solo to become the new ruler.
As Ta’a Chume was taken away charged with murdering
Teneniel Djo, Tenel Ka saw her mother’s legacy of a new fleet of Hapan ships
repel the Vong. Isolder was
immensely relieved, since the loss of two fleets would have been too much to
bear.
