Crumb was a Kowakian lizard-monkey, a race of brown, leather-skinned beings. He seemed to be a complete idiot, cackling all the time, but in reality he was a good actor. He had the job of court jester for Jabba, and so lived on his nerves most of the time. Salacious did not want to appear to be intelligent, as that was a sure way of meeting an untimely death. His path met Jabba's on the Kwenn space station. At the time Crumb was being hunted and had escaped on to Jabba's ship, unbeknownst to the great worm. He concealed himself in the Hutt's food bowl, eating the green muck that made up its contents. When Crumb was discovered, however, Jabba made an attempt to catch and eat him. But the lizard monkey was too quick, and jumped up into the ceiling. The food bowl was on his head, and landed on top of Bidlo, who had entered the room arguing with Bib Fortuna. His blaster shot only produced green goo which hit Bib, but mad Jabba laugh. From then on, Salacious would work for Jabba, making him laugh whenever necessary.
His cackling became well known throughout the musty halls of Jabba's Palace, and on the day when Luke came to take his friends, Crumb's laugh echoed throughout the entire palace, he laughed so loud. Jabba too laughed, but stopped abruptly when his pet rancor was killed. As a result, the Rebels were taken to the Sarlacc, and Salacious accompanied his master. Things went disastrously wrong, and Jabba died at the hands of Leia. Crumb's last moments were spent chewing on the eye of Threepio before being zapped by Artoo with an electrical appendage. Crumb lost his life when the sail barge exploded, along with everyone else on board.
