The Staircase Window
Albion House is a spacious Victorian maisonette over and alongside the village pharmacy. It is also very handy for the grocery shop and bank. Other shops, post office, health centre, hairdresser and local inn are but a minute or two's walk away.

Ground floor:
  • Large front entrance lobby with utility cupboard under the stairs (home to steam iron, ironing board, hoover etc.)
  • Dining room with wood-effect electric fire and convector heater.
  • The back door opens into the first of two enclosed gardens. There are four folding canvas chairs if you wish to sit outside.
  • There are two parking spaces, one covered.
  • A clothes-line is provided for use under the carport or across the garden as required.

First floor:
  • 3 roomy bedrooms (one double-bed with king-size duvet, one twin-beds and one single bed, all single beds having double-size duvets)
  • Large bathroom with bath, electric shower, heated towel rail, wall-mounted fan heater and hairdryer.
  • Compact kitchen includes electric cooker, microwave oven, toaster, cutlery, crockery, cooking pans and utensils, electric water heater over sink, fridge with ice-making freezer compartment, slimline dishwasher and washing machine
  • Sunny sitting room with wood / coal burning Villager stove, colour TV / VCR / DVD player, radio-cassette-CD player, tapes, videos, DVDs, tourist information, books and games.

In addition to the Villager stove in the sitting room, heating is also provided by night storage heaters. There are 3 portable electric heaters. There is also an immersion heater with timer, electric shower and hot water heater over the sink in the kitchen.
Electricity is charged extra at 20p/unit day and 15p/unit night as per meter readings.These prices may vary in line with national electricity prices.
Coal and wood is available free of charge if required.


Bed linen and towels are included in the rental charge.
Well behaved pets and children welcomed with prior aggreement. Cot and mattress available (but please bring your own linen for this). Stair gate available if needed.

I regret that due to past experience I have had to declare the house a "no-smoking area". Since the recent legislation the majority of my visitors do expect the house and bedding to be free of the stale cigarette smell which I find difficult to eradicate in the few hours available between visitors. Also I worry about the fire risk.
