Charlotte Knibbs

1871-1921

Charlotte was born in 1871 in Mile End, London. She married John Webster in 1889 and they had nine Children.

In 1873 Lincoln Stanhope Wainwright, one of the Church of England's most famous figures, became Curate, and later Vicar, of St Peter's, London Docks, in the parish of Wapping.
Family story has it that on his rounds, he would spend time at Charlotte's home, sitting by the fire in the kitchen, drinking tea and eating food which Charlotte made for him. She would mend his clothes and probably provide him with replacements for those he gave away to the very poorest for even those who are poor themselves can always find someone in even greater need.
