I understand from John's grandson, Jonathan Webster, that John, formerly a builders labourer, became blind in his 40's but was able to help Charlotte at home with her work as a Trouser Machinist.

I'm told that Charlotte died in 1921 aged 49, but I'm wondering if it's her death I can see in the GRO during q1/1922, aged 50 at Limehouse District, London, Middlesex, England. I do know from John's grandson that they moved to Monza Street, Wapping between 1895 and 1897, and remained there for the remainder of their lives. Limehouse District does include Wapping.

Family story has it that Lincoln Stanhope Wainwright, one of the Church of England's most famous figures, became Curate, and later Vicar, of St Peter's, London Docks, in the parish of Wapping in 1873, and on his rounds, he would spend time at Charlotte's home, sitting by the fire in the kitchen, drinking tea and eating food which Charlotte made for him. She would mend his clothes and probably provide him with replacements for those he gave away to the very poorest for even those who are poor themselves can always find someone in even greater need.

I suspect it was this Charlotte who was born in Mile End, London, Jan-Mar 1891 as Charlotte Elizabeth.
